All About fun four star review

If you've ever dreamed of exploring the quirky world of Bikini Bottom, the SpongeBob Cafe at Primark in Trafford Palazzo, Manchester, is your chance to dive right in—no scuba gear required. This vibrant pop-up café is the latest themed experience at the store, following the success of past cafés like Hello Kitty, Stitch, and the Grinch. Open from June to August, this under-the-sea adventure is part of a celebration marking 25 years of SpongeBob SquarePants, bringing a splash of joy to fans both young and old.

From the moment you step into the SpongeBob Café, you're greeted by colourful décor that transports you to the heart of Bikini Bottom. Whether you're a fan of SpongeBob, Patrick, or even Plankton, the atmosphere here is a delightful tribute to the beloved show. The café features a menu packed with limited-edition treats that are as whimsical as the characters themselves. Highlights include the Pineapple Under the Sea Bubble Tea, a refreshing tropical drink that perfectly captures the essence of SpongeBob’s iconic home, and the Kelp Crunch Waffle (£6.95), a sweet and crunchy dessert that’s both fun and delicious. For those who prefer something Savory, the Chum Wings offer a playful nod to the show’s quirky humour

During our visit, my husband Lawrence tried the Barnacle Ball Sub (£6.95), a meatball sub with tomato sauce, melted cheese, and rocket. He thoroughly enjoyed it, describing it as a tasty and satisfying choice. I had initially wanted to try the Weenie Hut JR Mega Hotdog (£5.95), but unfortunately, they had run out of buns. Instead, I opted for a cheese and ham toastie from the regular café menu, which, while not as themed, was still a solid and enjoyable choice.

The SpongeBob Café also has a tempting selection of cakes, which we couldn’t resist sampling. Both Lawrence and I picked out a piece from the display, and we were impressed by the quality and presentation. The milkshakes (£5.95) and waffles (£6.95) looked particularly delicious and well-presented, so we'll definitely be back to try them on our next visit, especially when we bring the kids along. For families, the café also offers a Kids Lunch Box deal for £4.95, which includes a roll, snack, piece of fruit, and a drink—perfect for keeping the little ones happy.

A fun touch at the SpongeBob Café is the option to get your drinks in a souvenir cup for a bit extra, making it a great keepsake from your visit. Additionally, at the till, we noticed they were selling a SpongeBob chocolate bar and a Gary the Snail cookie, which adds an extra bit of fun for fans wanting to take a piece of the experience home.
