A number of new touring productions will be a welcomed to the Crucible, the Lyceum, and the Playhouse in late 2024, into 2025, including mesmerising ballet, spine-tingling hauntings and knock-out musical favourites.
In the Lyceum theatre:
Mergaliyev Classical Ballet's Swan Lake runs from Tuesday 7 – Saturday 11 January 2025. Watch the timeless tale of Prince Siegfried falling in love with Odette, Queen of the Swans, only to be tricked into betraying her. The thrilling sight of a company of swans dancing to Tchaikovsky’s dramatic score, performed by a live orchestra, is one of the true delights of classical ballet.
The multi-award-winning production Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of) storms back into the Lyceum from Tuesday 14 - Saturday 18 January 2025. Two brothers on a beach - their dad is dying, and their town is crumbling, while a figure made of driftwood stalks the shore at night. ThickSkin and Pentabus join forces to present this moving play by Tim Foley (Bruntwood Prize Winner-Electric Rosary).And in the Crucible:Experience the sheer power of Sheffield's own Community Gospel Choir! Their performance Lift Your Voice will be on Saturday 26 October 2024 in the Crucible. With their mesmerizing vocals and soul-stirring melodies, they captivate audiences like no other. Sheffield Community Gospel Choir is one of the best known and most well-loved Gospel Choirs in Yorkshire, founded in 2013 by Janine Dyer, who continues to lead and direct. Prepare to be moved by their inspiring messages and unforgettable performances.
Finally, the previously announced Sheffield Theatres Production A Streetcar Named Desire will go on sale alongside the newly announced shows. In the sultry back streets of 1940s New Orleans, fading Southern belle Blanche DuBois seeks solace with her estranged sister Stella. Blanche’s delicate sensibilities create instant suspicion in Stella’s unrestrained husband Stanley, as they collide in a struggle for Stella’s heart. As their simmering feud escalates, past truths begin to surface and both sisters must choose between fantasy and reality.
